The Break Up

"It's not you" he would say
After saying he loved me yesterday
"I just don't think this is going to work out"
But since when did you start to have doubt?
You where hugging and kissing me before
Now I'm here you continue to ignore
"Please sit down, let's talk about things" I'd plead
You would explain how your love for me recedes
Tears form in my eyes, but I refuse to let you see
I sit back as we begin to disagree

How could we have deteriorated to hate
Sitting there we both get in a state
I'm shouting all the odds whilst you talk
Then you get up and away you walk
Grabbing you by the arm I pull you back
Flinching as you thought I was going to attack
"I'm sorry for all that I ever did" I'd cry
But you wouldn't accept it- you just said good bye
Ten months since that hated day have past
And thinking about it- it wouldn't have last

Now I know who you truly have become
Hearing about you still makes me feel slightly numb
But that wont stop me from moving on
From learning that the love from you is gone
Still I often think about what happened that night
How you left me thinking I was wrong; you were right
But just like you I now know that's a lie
And how you lead me and others to cry
The break up may have been down to you
But I would have done the same if I had a clue

You're sick and twisted now I think about it
How optimistic I was to think that you were legit
All the times you must have lied
No matter how hard I tried
What was it that was not good enough
why did you have to make the relationship so rough
Time after time you left me in the cold
But never did I expect this to unfold
How could you just become so unkind?
Was it me who was just being blind?

So that's the end of what once was
And you reasons are 'just because'
So leave me- just as I will you
That's it ... our relationship is through
I will not lie and say I hope you're pleased
As hate for you I have seized
All I ask it that I'll soon forget
And live in the future, with no regret
