Under The Guise Of Love (Collab)

by Debbie   Jul 9, 2007

Tossing away the ashes of youthful ferveur,
Shuttering the shutters of willful ventures,
With feeble efforts of passion pushed aside,
Wherewith oddities and ambiguities coincide-
I merely mistook the asking of your eyes...

The deep love that brought them together,
With a seeming spark that ties them forever;
A mere fanatical thrill they failed to realize.
Finding out later, she mistook the asking in his eyes...

Sedated senses in mind mused on times gone by,
When young wind whirled and sighed on ardent skies.
Taking my breath away, your blithe essence drew nigh,
With the joys of July of roses revealed on eyes.

Whilst timeless times chimed all laughter and cries,
Wistful memories disheveled with moments together;
All the way through deceitful looks and hurtful lies,
No mortals could break their undying vows of forever.

...Alas,

How horrific my heart turned pallid and dreary,
Akin to Beauty's rose withered and writhed by demise.
And blustered by a river of dread and uncertainty,
As poor Psyche wryly wrangled and bellowed in despise,
"...You fool! You merely mistook the asking of his eyes!"

Such tremendous confusion ripped them to shreds,
Causing both hearts to crackle and break into pieces.
From a terrible tragedy with millions of regrets,
And a mutual bond they would no longer share,
Both walked away with sorrow in their eyes...

Blunt mistakes leading to such deceitful guise,
Devastating tragedy devised in love's disguise.
Ruin drew out curtains as chapters were revised.
With shadow of aloofness, they bleakly bade goodbyes,
...Even as both mistook the asking of each other's eyes.

    I like this as well. It's my absolute favorite of yours, but it's still better than most others on this website. I think it was just that the rhyme scheme was a little funky. I still loved the imagery and vocabulary though. You are truly blessed with the gift of writing!
