Abuse

by Tracy D Rollings   Jul 9, 2007

I write a lot of things on abuse
hoping some of it will get to you
we all hate the fact that it happens
leaves us all wondering what we can do.

But to most people it doesn't affect them
or at least that's what they always say
most of the readers you really don't know
and you wonder why the abuser must pay.

Think of your children and then ask yourself
how you'd reacted if it were your child
knowing someone beat them left em for dead
serious thoughts like that would drive you wild.

All the things that run through your mind
the tremendous pain you feel in your heart
feelings in your body you never felt before
and it alone can tear any ones world apart.

Having someone hit you straight in the face
the impact of the fist to your head
can literally crack your skull causing permanent damage
and also leave a very small child dead.

The nose bleeds and headaches they always hurt
disarranged face and broke bones will never heal
the memories in your mind forever remain there
the pain you held in makes you wanna kill.

You think put yourself in the child's place
watch that fist coming straight at your face
helpless as can be nothing you can do
having to stand there taking all the pain.©2007 Tracydr42

As everyone already knows, I, myself, am a victem of domestic abuse.

I was fortunate enough to get out of the situation with my children and I alive. Sadly, not many can victems can or will say that.

I am glad that you are trying to spread the word. The abuse in our nation must come to an end. It start here, now, today! The end of it starts with you, me, the neighbor, and everyone else in the world.

It is time that we stand and take back our lives. Living in fear, rage, and even self doubt can no longer be justified or tolerated on any level.

I would be lying to you if I said that I never wrote about my past experience; however, it is the writing that has allowed me to somewhat heal. Though, I do not think that I will fully heal from the things that I endured without the help of God.

Thank you so much for taking a stand and doing your part to put an end to this violence.

This poem seems to be really trying to drive it home, the complete helplessness and how vunerable children are. I cant imagine anyoone doing it to a child but obviously it happens. Great poem, very straight to the point.
