Sealed

A zipper closes with the ease of hate
too many footsteps walk to the gate
a stumble here, a collision there
who knew that life was never fair

you can see the blood, her whispers made
where she stopped to rest in the shade
death is scary but breath is pain
as you get washed away by the rain

she smiled as the red sun set
wondering if it was her time yet
slowly slipping into the darkness divine
joining the others of her own kind

a wraith of pain and sorrow she was
too weak for living too strong for love
as she sank into the dusk of light
a mirror reflecting the night

a drop of blood from lips pale white
with calm descending into fright
a nightmare now is a dream
but a secret, sealed, forever clean

and once upon a stormy day
a sad girl went outside, but not to play
she never cried, not in the cold
for she finally found something to hold

she had been lost as the broken news
of death had returned, she was not to refuse
her lips shut tight against the flow
sometimes it's better not to know
