Just some loving memories

by Tracy D Rollings   Jul 10, 2007

I can barely remember but when I was a kid
once took a walk with my grandfather in the snow
headed to the store and he didn't have a car
was having a fit so he said I could go.

It was very cold and the wind started blowing hard
we must have walked for hours it seem to me
but as we were talking while walking down the road
he left memories in my mind like it should be.

The wind died down now we could see a ways
cause the snow wasn't coming down hard now like before
told me about the things that he use to do
and talked all the way till we reached Hinson's store.

We walked down the road on our way back home
he begin to show me things I never saw before
like beautiful crystal ice hanging all over the tree branches
my curiosity had started running wild and I wanted more.

For the first time in my life I saw nature
way my grandfather told me God was looking at it
said to be thankful and grateful for what you have
and the Lord would give you what he saw fit.

Those are the memories that I will always cherish forever
seemed that I learned the most from being around him
he always took good care of me and my needs
never once did he leave me hanging on a limb.©2007 Tracydr42

I love the poems and lyrics that tell a story...i could picture it in my head, so it proved very effective...but still you managed to keep the emotion flowing through it...memories can be the worst thing, or the best..great work on this tracy

Verily, this was such a lovely and emotional piece. It simply tugged my heart through its tantalizing sentiments and meaningful thoughts.

"Those are the memories that I will always cherish forever
seemed that I learned the most for being around him
he always took good care of me and my needs
never once did he leave me hanging on a limb."
`This stanza endears me completely; it reminds me of my father! :D Without him, Heaven knows how awfully different I'd be now.

An endearing work, nevertheless. Thanks for sharing.

    Best wishes,
    Marian
