Who Are We Now

I thought life was important
that we had the gift of love
But happiness wasn't the answer
it sure as h*ll wasn't enough
So many people dying
Kids with broken homes
So many souls so restless
So many hearts alone
We engage in so much warfare
who really gives a crap?
We pledge for so much peace
the one thing we most lack
where did we go wrong?
what now matters to us?
what the h*ll do we stand for?
I know it's not trust..
What is this generation?!
where appearance comes first?!
where sex and money mean so much..
have we not been cursed?
If I was God I'd be ashamed
we no longer know who we are..
when will we open our eyes?
how could we let it get this far?!

*I hope that my poem does not offend anyone because that was not my intention. I fully respect the opinions of every person and just felt the need to express my own.
