To my dearest Lucinda

by Marly   Jul 11, 2007

Lucinda was just
An average little girl
Living her life
In her perfect world
She didn't no if true love
She'd never been kissed
Her life was quiet simple
She liked it like this
It was just one morning
On her 13th Birthday
That Lucinda noticed
A few things had changed
She opened a present
Papers through the air
It was some make-up
And dye for her hair
"I don't wear make-up
What's all this for?"
"Once you try it Sis,
You will soon want more"
Her sister put her make-up on
Eye liner, Blush and lipstick
Lucinda looked in the mirror
Her frown was gone quick
"I quiet like this"
Lucinda happily said
Suddenly different thoughts
Span through Lucinda's head
Everything had changed
She was like a new girl
Lucinda had finally entered
The grown up teen age world
The next day at school
Every one knew her name
Lucinda's high school life
Would never be the same
"Hello there Lucinda"
One of the boys said
Lucinda turned around
"Call me Lucy instead"
The boy looked dazed
As he looked into her eyes
Never before had Lucinda
Been noticed by a guy
"Would you like my number?"
He said in a cool tone
Lucinda blushed as she
Took out her brand new phone
************************
It's been 3 months
To this very day
That little Lucinda
Had been blown away
She was skipping merrily
Up to her boyfriend's house
Not even really knowing
What love was all about
She pushed on his door
Her mouth fell open
He was kissing another girl
Not one word was spoken
He turned to face Lucy
"Lucy please wait!"
But she had already left
It was just too late
She slammed her door
Her tears felt cold
She no longer wanted
To be 13 years old
She took out her card
From her 13th birthday
Flipped open the pages
And began reading away
"To my dearest Lucinda,
Happy 13th Birthday
I hope these memories
Will be here for you each day
Please don't ever change
The little girl that you are
Because to your dear mother
You are my shining star
You have the rest of your life
To grow older like me
So just keep living
Your life happily
With all the love
I could possibly give
Lucinda you make Earth
The happiest place to live"
Lucinda took the make-up
And threw it against the wall
She cried into her chest
As she curled up in a ball
She peered into the mirror
Not knowing what to say
The little girl she once was
Had suddenly gone away
