Courting Mary Sue

by Twisted Heart   Jul 11, 2007

When Mary Sue had reached her prime
The lads came quick in double time
Each one having in his mind
To court her on this eve.
With flowers, chocolates, what a show
Each dressed up nice from head to toe
There on the porch all in a row
Wearing hearts on sleeves.

The father, first, came out the door
A presence not to be ignored
He paced upon the whitewashed porch
As the lads stood straight.
The mother, in her apron white,
The strings of lace she now untied
As she, too, came from inside
The dinner had to wait.

At last came out sweet Mary Sue
Dressed in smock of royal blue
Her hair tied up with ribbons too
All hearts went pitter pat.
A dozen boys had come this night
Each feeling he was Mr. Right
Made her squeal with such delight
Amongst them, she now sat.

As hours passed, she lost a few
Narrowed down her choice to two
Between them she just couldn't choose
Her mind was in a twist.
Her parents had long gone back in
Now here she sat between the men
A test to each would now begin
By giving her a kiss.

The first lad, Davy, couldn't wait
His timing off, his aim was late
Thus now he sealed his losing fate
He didn't take his time.
Mary Sue, stopped him dead
She pointed to the gate instead
Boy, was Davy's face so red
That left Roger Pine.

Now Roger was a lady's man
Held many hearts inside his hand
With hair the color of sifting sand
And voice so strong and low.
Any lass would welcome him
Slight of eye and sexy grin
A kiss from him would be a sin
But what a way to go.

He slithered up to Mary Sue
With outstretched arms to him he drew
Leaned in for a kiss or two
But she took him by surprise.
She teased him with her juicy lips
Now his heart was in a twist
As he saw the satisfaction in her eyes.

There on the porch he sat alone
As she walked inside her home
His heart would never ever roam
Because she holds it true.
What happened to his slight regard
Was he not holding all the cards
Now he had fallen... fallen hard
For sweet Mary Sue.

The tables turned and fell away
You'll find him now, most any day
Away from her, he cannot stray
Her bid is his command
Sweet Mary Sue, took her time
To capture him and bind his mind
Within her power he's confined
This humbled lady's man.

I'll have to add this to my favourites as it is absolutely brilliant. It flows wonderfully and is very funny, especially for someone who's gritted her teeth over so much Mary Sue-centred fanfiction in the past.
