Static

by Steve Powers   Jul 11, 2007

Emotionally paralyzed,
stuck in a state of suppression.
In my reactions, I hide as my disguise,
living less, successful regression.
Impressionless, my safety, no rocking boats,
Depression, this fake me, fenced in by these won'ts.
They come and they laugh, we joke and I smile.
Shady most of this path, light shone through for a while.
My failures the trees, casting shadows of gloom,
Darkness comes quickly in a windowless room.
Change is the window, the break through the trees,
To do and to know, dottless I's uncrossed T's.
So here I will stay, comfortless comfort I wait,
Tomorrow: today, too little, too late.
Emotionally paralyzed,
stuck in a state of suppression.
In my reactions, I hide as my disguise,
living less, successful regression.

i really like this poem though the words are really powerful and for some reason these lines i could connect to most ((and really loved)):

Depression, this fake me, fenced in by these won'ts.
They come and they laugh, we joke and I smile.
