Did Daddy ever stand at my cradle

by Timothy   Jul 12, 2007

I wonder, as I stare at your blue eyes,
Knowing that our fates are all combined;
Did my father smile at me, play at me,
Was there a family thought? A secured plan designed?

He was young, as was my mother,
He liked to party, and never developed family "skills";
Their marriage was over in just a few years,
It started as a bed of roses, and quickly changed to a landfill.

And yet, I wonder, no further an answer,
Because I DO want you to be like me---and him---
and yet we still circle...30 years plus...
And i hope we find a resolution, in this great family bleak-hymn.

    I have to tell you, I absolutely loved this poem.. The title really caught my interest and the poem didn't let me down! Thanks so much for that =) In some cases it ends up like that hehe. It was so sad but wonderful though.. It was filled with such sad emotions. I cannot relate to this myself, but I know others and have friends that definitely could.. Wonderful job, please keep it up! 5/5 <3
