She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart

Funny, how she always seems
to laugh and joke among her friends
How just the simple little things
can bring a smile to her face again.

But if you look behind the smile
and deep within her eyes you'll see
That not a laugh line reaches there
just teardrops in the ducts there'll be.

Not one to tear the party down
nor let her grief become well known
She holds herself with dignity
among her friends, yet all alone.

A smile may hold for many things
but not for tatters, tears, or parts
She may laugh and joke today
but it never reaches inside her heart.

To give of self, she'll gladly do
without a word or question why
And she may say she'll be okay
but the truth is in her eyes.

So if it be the soul you search
inside the essence of her smile
Look deeper that the fake facade
that she plants there for awhile.

Into her eyes look for the truth
see deep inside no sign of sparks
For though a laugh or smile will come
it never reaches to her heart.
