Look At The World

by Zeus   Jul 13, 2007

Another day, another thought,
Thoughts of the world we live in.
Living in this state of mind,
Why should we be forgiven?

This world is full of sinners,
Not a pure-hearted soul;
No one under the bright blue sky
Has a heart of gold.

The brave are just cowards,
And the timid play bold;
Everyone pays to look young
And children act so old.

The world is corrupt and broken,
Poverty stricken, and disease ridden.
Money hungry, starving children
But who cares? Should we be forgiven?

We only care about ourselves,
So we pretend it does not exist:
People in the third world ache in hell
While we victor in our bliss.

So, why are we so insecure
About appearance and such,
When there are people across the globe
That are suffering so much?

But listen here, I tell you this.
I was this way before.
And maybe my eyes aren't fully open,
But change can happen for sure,

If we just look at the world.

    Hrmm, I liked the messege held within this piece, however, I didn't really enjoy the structure. Perhaps breaking it into stanza/verses would help in this case to make the flow/rhythm better. I also noticed you used no punctuation. Punctuation is very important, it allows the read to know when to pause/stop as well as add to the overall flow. Overall, this was just alright for me, it could've been excellent with much more power and meaning held behind it if you took the time to just do small little revisments such as I mentioned. Keep up the good work though, you do have talent.

    Peace, Joe

    Great poem! It's very true, and it kept me thinking. Though, I must say, it's a bit cliche, you still made it your own. Great job!
