Love: A Lie

by Zeus   Jul 13, 2007

Love, to me, is a terrible lie.
All the effort I put just made me cry
All I can do now is just wonder why
When nothing but time just passes by
Love, no matter how nice it seems
It still manages to haunt my dreams
Living a nightmare, surrounded by screams
Trying to win her over with useless schemes
Love betrayed me, it had me believe
But it turned out to have a trick up its sleeve
It hurt me so much, all I can do now is grieve
As I hyperventilate, I can hardly breathe
A day never passes by without these thoughts
I will always remember the pain you brought
The scars remind me of how hard I fought
For a love that wasn't there, in which I sought

*That was my favorite line. I can relate to this poem so much. I love the style and how simple your words work together to tell a story. I love the diction here as well. Keep it up. Nik*
