Almost time

by Alissa   Jul 13, 2007

I made this poem because the highlight of my day is talking to a very special person at night on the computer. It's basically that quote that says "I hate waiting for you to go online." But I don't hate it, it's the suspense that makes everything so much better.

I sit here in the grass,
the breeze caressing my warm skin.
The night is arising,
and it will soon be time.

I lay my head back,
breathing in the cool air.
So refreshing after the day,
so hot and humid.

My feet are getting cold,
as the grass begins to cool.
My blanket isn't so warm anymore,
time to start packing.

I set my bag out in front of me,
and place everything neatly inside.
I look at my watch,
it's almost time.

I stand up and stretch,
walking slowly towards home.
The night is falling,
and it's almost time.

I reach my front door,
and begin to fiddle with my keys.
The lights in every house are on,
and it's almost time.

I get inside and take off my sandals,
I kiss my cats hello.
I turn on the light and walk over,
I switch on the computer.

I wait for it to load,
the house is nice and cozy,
I look over at the clock,
the computer flicks on....

and it's time.
