He Wasn't What I Thought

by Jenni Marie   Jul 13, 2007

Spent so long waiting
To finally be in his arms
Thinking of him always
True I'd fallen for his charms

Every night these past months
Spent dreaming just of him
Wanting to hold him near
Have him take me from within

He told me he liked me to
Foolishly I did believe
Only now my soul is aching
It's my heart that has to grieve

Can't stop thinking of him
Wishing he'd chosen me instead
Hearing about his new found love
Is what my heart has come to dread

Told me he'd make me happy
That he'd never break my heart
Has he just been lying all this time?
'Cause his actions ripped me right apart

Tried constantly to keep my distance
These growing feelings always fought
Guess it shouldn't matter anyway
Because clearly he isn't what I thought

Well no prizes for guessing who this is about...he isn't worth feeling sad over, but no matter how much someone tells you that it doesn't help, i know that lol.
I really liked the poem though, flowed well, the 2nd to last stanza, the last 2 lines of it i didn't like the flow in them, but you know what i'm like i'm fussy haha.

I love this poem, well written and love the truth in it. Sad to think how much pain falling in love causes us. 5/5 for a brilliant piece. I hope we both choose better in the future.

My last bad choice is best described in a poem call "The Devil in a black dress"
