On the outside

by xxSilentlyScreamingxx   Jul 13, 2007

I stand on the outside looking in,
Watching them all live their lives,
So perfect, so happy.
I reach out, desperate to touch something that good,
But to no avail.
Again I hit the edge, the barrier
Keeping me apart from them.
I clutch my bars and cry,
Gazing inside with a longing so fierce
It makes my eyes hurt.
How long must it be before I am allowed in,
Allowed to experience the perfect life,
The perfect love?
Why am I banished to the cold outside,
Left only to watch, wish and want?
What have I done to deserve this...
I stand here and turn my back on them,
There's no use in even hoping anymore,
I'm never going to be let in.
I'll never know what it feels like
To be one of them,
To love, to be loved,
To live...
