Hold Me Close

by Alyssa Friday   Jul 14, 2007

Don't tell me you'll come back to me
if death may ride your way;
I don't need tender lies to keep...
my heart still pains the untold truth.

Please, take my hand, and save my love,
keep it close to your love for me.
Let it give you company, and warm you
when nights grow cold and unkind.

Your tender kiss still sears my lips,
as my tears scar deep your cheeks;
even apart, we'll have each other near,
for our dreams will always be our bridge.

Hold me tight now, as you won't hold 'til your return.
Oh, please, Lord, let him return!
The dawn grows nearer to take you away;
don't forget my loving face, my soothing voice.

Save me in your pocket, like a smile that won't be used.
Just let me stay close to you always and forever,
so even if glorious Heaven opens its gates,
our love can never be forgotten.
