Black Rose

by my name is Llama   Jul 15, 2007

You came into my life like an angel from my dreams
You patched up my heart, that was torn at the seams

Your love for me became like a single red rose
Your passion and kindness radiates and glows

But deep down inside you had a troubled soul
Something that made you incomplete and un-whole

And as much as I loved you it was never enough
Even though you tried to pretend and act real tough

You were hurting too much inside and had to leave
As much as you didn't want to you had to believe

That I would move on and find someone new
I never once did in all those years come untrue

That red rose I held so dear has now turned black
And as much as I try, I can never turn back

I think you did this for my contest, i still love it, it is beautifully expressed, the way you took the red rose and turned it black. nicely penned 5/5

Lovely poem. Beautiful and sad. Well formatted and simple rhymes are beneficial here making it all the easier to read. The one mistake I noticed was in line two it should be 'torn' instead of 'teared'. Otherwise excellent.

This was a real good poem but if there was one thing i could suggest it would be the use of commas. Especially in the first couplet, the second line should have a comma after "You patched p my heart". a great poem nonetheless.
