Goodbye Mya

by xoxShorteexox   Jul 15, 2007

(This is for a cat that was like my true mum)

You always were a good secret keeper,
now those secrets lie with you in your grave,
I may think you had to go too soon,
but fate has a funny way of taking things too soon.

You were like my mother; my protector,
you won the key to my heart when I was three,
my trust and loyalty was yours for the taking,
now you're in a shallow grave and all I can do is miss you.

You put up with my brother and I for 14 years,
love us like we were your very own kids,
you woke us up for school; followed us around for food,
you were our best friend for the longest time.

It was hard to look at you and see you meow for the last time,
you may be in a better place now without suffering,
but my heart is truly suffering with being able to whisper to you,
you're gone forever; I miss you more than I can truly say.

You've been my mother; my friend; my midnight hug,
now you're watching over me; just like always,
but I still miss you because you're not here to hug,
you were my mother and nothing will change that.

I'm whispering my final goodbyes to you,
yet I still feel a presence around me; like your presence,
my heart is crying out for your warm welcome,
but I know you're no longer suffering anymore.
