Let's Forget About Life

by Emma   Jul 16, 2007

The world would be a much happier place
If all those in it were rich.
If no one had any classes to teach,
Reports to write or sales to pitch.

The world would be a much happier place
If no one was looking for love,
If we could all know it just fills a gap;
It's a hand in an empty glove.

The world would be a much happier place
If we knew of a god above.
If we knew for sure we'd find forgiveness
In Christ our Saviour's love.

If we could forget our friendships past
Our passions, our troubles and strife
The world would be a much happier place
If we could forget about life.

I suppose when you're from the working class, your views can go to either end of the scale. My view on the rich clearly opposes yours quite solidly, as I ... am not very keen on the upper classes, lol. Of course, I'm not saying money will solve everything. ;) But it will sort a couple of things out, lol. Financial problems, for instance. ;)

PS. I've also left a comment on your 'You + Her = Nothing of Me'. I thought the title was pretty intriguing, so I decided to check it out and was, not surprisingly after reading the great 'Welcome Mat' poem, very pleased.

....oh and yes...I am short! But I am not sure if that is quite the problem or not!!

The only view I didn't agree with is the rich part. I myself am not rich (not even close) but I have been around rich people. I believe that being rich creates greed and selfishness (but I can also see where money can bring happiness, everybody wants) But being poor makes me realize the value of a dollar, I am grateful for everything I have and could not ask for more than just the company of my family and my friends to make me happy! But like I said wonderful poem!

thank you for your comment on my poem "Welcome Mat". I didn't think many people would understand my metaphor!

Thank you very much for your praise, it means a lot to me. Yes, I know my view of life can be a bit sceptical at times, but I'm sure you'll be thankful to know I'm not always so dreary. ;)
