Blank Sheet of Paper

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Jul 16, 2007

She stood hopeless; in front of an eager crowd,
As she turned to him with tears in her blue eyes,
And she held out a blank sheet of paper to him -
Hushing her beating heart; she started to improvise.

"I was handed this book just a week or two ago,
When the Preacher told me to say anything at all,
But last night; as I sat in our bed alone I seen -
All of the happy pictures of us hanging on the wall.

And I tried to write about how I felt in those moments;
With your arms around my waist and lips on mine,
But Baby, I couldn't do it; there is no way to say it,
So I took the word love; sat down and tried to define -

That didn't work either, so I thought of old love quotes,
The ones I'd read when I was a teen in love with you,
But the only one I thought of to say to you today is -
I'm in this with you forever, so friends and family - I do."

She took a deep breath as she looked up into his eyes,
And a tear fell down against the Churches hardwood floor,
As he took her shaking hand in his and announced:
"A blank sheet of paper is all I could ask for and more."

Lifting the veil off of her face; he rested a hand onto her cheek,
"Darling I want to spend the rest of my life by your side,
And their lips collided under the soft light set upon them,
As the Preacher exclaimed: "You may now kiss your bride!"
