Famous Faces

by Emma   Jul 16, 2007

Everyone raise up their glasses again
As we all get into the showbiz game!
These people have nothing to do with us
But we love them as friends, and their joyous
Joking and acting and dancing and song
Keeps us from distinguishing right and wrong.
They may have some talent, they may have none
But all are vital to us as t' moon or Sun.
Some have a few drinks and tell a few jokes
Some sing out their hearts to all of the folks;
Some are acclaim'd for their perfect blonde hair,
While others are famed for just being there.
They don't do a lot - that much is certain
Yet come 'The End', they bring down the curtain
The audience cackles and cheers and roars
And they all return to do the encores
And a sea of smiles twinkles at the stage
At the barely-clad dancers in their go-go cage,
And ev'ry pair of eyes in the place is
Looking at all of the famous faces.

As I like to think of myself as NOT being a hypocrite, I will admit that I share the sentiments of all the people I talk about in this poem. I strive to look like the models in the magazines, I moon over actors like Jason Isaacs and Johnny Depp *goes faint* and I went to the last three Harry Potter premieres and choked on my own screams. So I'm not making much of a statement, really, am I?

Thank you very much for your comment, although it's not a love poem. What part made you think that?
