Declare the Revolution

by Taylor   Jul 16, 2007

If you toss your standards to the wind,
the obstacles and demons that used to know you,
they'll dissolve into an air of a revolution.
Sing for it! For it is here at last.

And the peace that you watched from afar,
as it dipped and spilled into each sunset,
is at the breach of your burdened fingertips.
Grasp it, and clutch it close to your heart.
Not because you ought to, but because you can!

Dance in the streets of Jericho and Israel,
and in the lands of the Canaanites and Gentiles,
as if the joy inside of you didn't leave you ashamed.
Because the God of their emperors and kings
has made a promise to restore you, the broken.

Because God never was a man on a throne.
He is, and was, and will always be anything of beauty,
everything without purpose, or with a notion of joy in it.
He's the wing of a bird, the essence of laughter,
He's the sun, and the stars, and the unknown.

So declare a revolution with your mouth.
Because revolutions ought to be sung about.

Wow, I like this piece from the beginning to the end. Every stanza is excellently written, and the whole poem is very deep and meaningful. I like the choice of words in it. The fourth stanza is my favorite.
