Room 110

by Melissa   Jul 16, 2007

When daddy's heart
went soft repose
I offered him mine,
but he refused my little ticker
said it was fit for a girl
and his chest would smother
all the femininity
she had to offer
an old man soul,

besides her roots
had already fastened themselves
to where god intended them to grow

So I kissed him for luck
knowing full well
time was a sly thief
hope could never sneak behind
much less pin down it's shadow

A beautiful piece, subtle and succinct yet conveying all the love there can be between father and daughter, be it in the confines of a small room.
