I walked around your garden today
To see what I could find.
The daffodils were out in bloom;
The topiary was primed.
The birds were singing in the sky,
Their young learning how to fly.
Everyone was struck
By the beauty of it all;
The garden was magnificent.
The trees were grand and tall.
And yet, as I stood peering, I
Felt the sudden urge to cry.
For I saw not the beauteous things
And I saw not the glamour.
I could not enjoy my stroll
While others came to clamour.
I could not enjoy the cool, fresh air
On this day that you weren't there.
