What do you think?

by Fruitloop XxProblem ChildxX   Jul 16, 2007

She once was a child,
learning right and wrong.
she had mom and dad
to help her along.
when she dad a right
she would look around
and tell whomever,
happened to be found.
"look what i did.
did you see, did you see?
are you proud,
what do you think?"
she was awarded
with applause of satisfaction
she happily smiled at
her family and friends.

"but she soon grew up
and into high school.
with boys and drama
and breaking the rules.
crushes and heartbreaks
being careful to make sure
that even if she does mess up
she quickly has a cure.
she points to herself in front of the crowd
"I'm who you want me to be.
I'm just like you,
so what do you think?"
she got the applause
she needed to hear
at that she's accepted
by her peers.

things got harder
and she wanted to break free.
but she didn't want to lose
her popularity.
she was terrified of
being a freak
so, for this,
she gave her purity.she gazed at the crowd
"look at me!
look what you did.
what do you think?"
there was the applause
once again
by the people she still
called her friends.

if she made the mistake
if messing up one day
they would just simply
look away.
they told her just what
she needed to wear,
the way she should talk
and do her hair.
she whispered, "I'm sorry.
forgive me please.
i made a mistake.
what do you think?"
the crowd was silent.
either they can or can't.
they wisped to each other.
another chance?

everyone's doing drugs.
sex and parties.
she tags alone with all the rest
more and more lonely.
she does the sex
and learns to cope
then joins her friends
to smoke some dope.
she muffles into the microphone
"i go to the parties.
i forgot how to be me.
what do you think?"
she could hear the claps and shouts
and the whistles all around
she nods and walks away
with her head hanging down.

she let go of her friends
and the popularity.
stooped with the parties
and finally broke free.
she noticed a new crowd
of people around her
who would judge her plans
for the future.
"i found myself.
i found my dreams.
I'm a working progress.
what do you think?"
a standing obation
was what she got.
she started to blush
with this applause.

she thought that being popular
would get her anything
but she knew that wouldn't get her
a future and a dream.
she grew away from all the people
pushing her down the path
that they were headed down.
walking away wasn't so bad.
they were telling her how
she should live her life
causing her loneliness,
pain, and strife.
she turned to them
when she needed help
when she should have turned
to ask herself.
