My Immortal (Glosa-Verse)

My Immortal (Glosa-Verse)
Song Written and Played by Evanescence

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears,
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears,
And I held your hand through all of these years,
But you still have All of me.

My heart lingers on your forgotten touch
Yearning for it, the memories driving me insane
I'm lost without you here, this much I know
No matter where I go I try to forget you
But time will finally tell how long it will take
And until then I will wait for an eternity here,
Letting the tears fall, little droplets of sorrow
Setting in as the moon reaches its glorious peak
When I would sing sweet love songs in your ear,
And when you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears.

You would tell me you loved me, was it true?
Endless lies, destroying my already tattered heart
Still forgiving you after all the pain that it caused
For the love that I gave to you seems to have no end
Neither does the pain inside, I wish it would heal
But still I linger here, crying these broken tears,
While he sits there holding you tight in his arms
Late nights thinking of you has worn me down
Always there for you, knowing my love is sincere,
And when you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears.

But you took the love I gave you for granted
Never cared for it, left my soul dead and broken
No matter how hard I tried you would turn away
Leaving me here alone with my heart broken in two
But one day I will love again, just a matter of time
Till that day comes I will be here crying black tears,
Thinking of your deadly smile, all the joy it gave me
Like when we spent hours talking, just falling in love
We would walk together, made your pain disappear,
And I held your hand through all of these years.

Still you betrayed me, and this I cant ignore
Even though my heart wishes my mind would
Cursed love, that has done this to my soul
Making me chose between misery and love
Lost memories haunt me through the day
This lonely sorrow is my only guarantee,
Trapped in my mind by My Immortal pain
Consumed by it, never will my soul heal
The pain you cause me will last an eternity,
But you still have all of me.

Glosa-Verse
A Spanish form invented by court poets in the 14th and 15th centuries. An opening quatrain, called a 'cabeza' is chosen from another poet, or song. The glosa elaborates or 'glosses' on the quatrain with four ten line stanzas, their concluding lines taken consecutively from the quatrain and their sixth and ninth lines rhyming with the borrowed tenth. Example is as follows....

LoveloveLOVE it. Of course, you already knew that I adored this piece, from very first read I was hooked...I guess I just never got around to commenting it. Every single line holds such heart wrenching sorrow, you can feel the pain from your words as you read through the poem. You wrote it so well and everything just flowed together perfectly, great job Darling !
