The Smell of Rain

by Unrequited   Jul 17, 2007

Tonight, she smells of rain
the storm clouds lick her tongue
one small angel covered in ash
tonight, beauty dies so young.

her eyes lie loosely shut
once, a symbol of fantasy
now the clouds bring dark thunder
they weep for eternity.

she lived her life, heart on a sleeve
and for this love, she paid the price
those hands now lie unmoving
her lips glazed over with ice.

death, in the arms of her love
frozen moment, stealing one last peck
I hold her close and gently tremble
her final breath upon my neck.

is this our world created?
or is this the earth undone?
destruction heaves its final blow
as her precious heart sings one more song.

this angel begins her slumber
as beauty kisses its last
one final wish upon a star
a star that shoots too fast.

that night, she smelled of rain
rain that bleeds this blood so blue
but I will hold her heart forever
and make her wish come true.

This is really sad, but that's what this catergory is for. I really liked it, powerful emotions. Good work on a sad yet lovely piece.
