Some promises were meant to be broken (I'm so sorry)

I should never have made a promise
I knew I could not keep
but I hope to God you'll understand
how it's better if I leave

for I have gotten myself in
a rather fierce dilemma
and there is no escaping
without leaving you forever

and I have made a huge mistake
I just wish I could fix everything
but just so you won't be hurt
We must never again be anything

I need you to trust me
Because, love, I swear to you
that I did not plan for this to happen
I did not plan to stay true

It was all made up, in fun and games
but what I found, was so horrid
I found that I had fell in love
but my heart, I could not bid

I'll try and try to make it up to you
I'll try to get along without support
but some promises were meant to be broken
I understand now, love's not a sport

no matter what happens
remember I'll always be thinking of you
and no matter what, I'll love you
for everything else, I've said, is true

I've put you through so much
and it's time I take you out
before you fall apart
and begin to fall, in doubt
