Like a Miror

by Max Krakers   Jul 17, 2007

On our first date,
I bought a symbol of love.
It was a beautiful mirror,
As pure as a dove.

Yet looking in it,
Could shatter one's dreams.
For the mirror showed,
Nothing is what it seems.

We went on a date,
But you never came.
I searched you to find out,
If you were playing a game.

Standing at your door,
Where I waited all night.
sitting on your doorstep,
I was a sorry sight.

I never cheated,
I was never drunk.
So tel me why,
You treated me like junk?

You sent me our mirror,
Our symbol of love.
It was still flawless,
still pure like a dove.

As I looked into our mirror,
I saw not a single crack.
Yet you smashed it to pieces,
I don't want you back.

What we had was special,
And it reduced me to tears.
It's broken like the mirror,
See you in seven years.
