The Cold

by gabriel   Jul 18, 2007

You died many years ago

On the plains of fallen snow

A cold snap came that very day

Bringing you far, far away

The barren land of timely frost

A living man without a cause

Broken on fours, crippled on two

The shards impaled his heart so true

It was when an icy gale

A chilly mist of ghastly pale

Deceived me with your very eyes

Those glassy glints to my demise

The virgin taste of bitterness

A sweetness I cannot explain

My tongue felt that sin caress

Temptation played it's usual game

I fell for you in the winter's chill

Like wanderlust for a seeker's thrill

Holding me in the midst of the storm

All of a sudden you were gone

A blizzard came engulfing all

Most fell though some stood tall

I hid inside an abandoned lair

Used by wolves whose bones lay bare

The following morning I emerged

A thick fog of frost had surged

Cursing I went back into my bivouac

Another night and I was stuck

I came out days later

Somehow sensing you weren't near

How it happened I'll never know

But you were gone in that very snow

Years later on Christmas Day

The cold that had taken you away

Came again with strife and snow

On the plains many years ago
