The Wind (Sedoka)

by Mommy And Me   Jul 19, 2007

The Wind (Sedoka)

It quickly goes by,
Swarming up the clouds of dust,
Swallowing up the forest's peace.

Rustling the leaves,
It whistles its friendly tune;
Calming the children's nightmares.

---------------------------------------------------------

The Sedoka is an unrhymed poem made up of two three-line katauta with the following
syllable counts: 5/7/7, 5/7/7. A Sedoka, pair of katauta as a single poem, may address the
same subject from differing perspectives.

    You are just amazing!!!! This is such a beautiful poem. I love poetry. It's my way of life. But I still don't know much about is you do. Maybe you could give me some pointers and tell me where I could find a book on writing the different styles of poetry. I am one of your biggest fans now. I look forward to reading much more of your work. Keep writing and I'll keep reading.

    I loved this poem, it was really calming and made me think of the wind in the way it flowed and the rythm of it.
    and it is also a very just happy poem, and makes the reader smile as they read it.

    Nice...just one problem...the last word "nightmares"...the peace of the whole poem was broken...maybe you could use something subtler?

    Also, initially you describe it to be powerful, then how can it be of a calming effect?
    Just some questions that you may answer and improve....don't mind my critique. I actually like sedoka's :D
