Purgatory

by Michael D Nalley   Jul 19, 2007

The flame burns passionately in my heart
For each lonely day that we are apart
The fire purifies, and purges my soul,
As my mind is set on its worthy goal,

No soul in hell may ever leave its state
Humbly in purgatory I must now wait
Thirsting for water, promised my fill
Where strength is in surrendering will

Tears from heaven fall as I long for grace
To cleanse my spirit for a better place
Free me from my sins fill my cup
Lord, I have nowhere to go except up
