My Secret Place

by xoxShorteexox   Jul 19, 2007

There was a place down a dirt road,
deep in the woods of the ponderosa forest,
I had my own little secret place,
I'd play there all day until darkness fell,
I'd shown a couple friends this place,
it was where I found peace in everything,
the sounds of nature were so pure,
the birds singing their sweet melodies,
the chipmunks patting their cheeks full of food,
woodpeckers pecking into trees,
I was so calm and hidden in this place,
this place is on a tree about 50 feet or longer,
it had fallen down in the last lightning storm,
it was so old and so woren down,
I would climb and walk down it,
smiles were my best friend back then,
my only emotion was true happiness,
I'd play on it all day just singing with the birds,
making friends with the bees and chipmunks,
flowers in my hair and rocks in my pockets,
my little secret place was where I found peace,
it's hidden in the woods; only few know where it is,
I pray it's still there because that's where I found peace.
