Lets pretend everythings alright

lets pretend we're feeling fine
its easier than facing the truth
seeing you're no longer who you used to be
do you even recognize yourself?
look into the mirror and see a stranger staring back
judging you
hating you
wishing you were something else
somewhere else
with someone else

Running far away
no destination
no direction
just running away from your life
only it follows you
like a shadow on the ground
its always there
is there no way to feel happy in this life
we work to live and live to work
if we don't work we're not civilized right?
and then we die
if we're lucky we might get around 80yrs of this hell
before we rot

So be happy you're alive
it's only one you got
work it away
till the day you die
then wonder why you never really lived
lets pretend its what we want
lets pretend it makes us happy
lets pretend our dreams come true
our hopes, loves and wishes too
lets pretend its gonna be OK
whatever gets you through the day

but you can't fool yourself
that reflection always knows the truth
how you really feel
what you really want
how you really cope
things that no one else knows
never will know
things you'd never tell
you can't hide it from yourself
like you can the world

things that keep you awake at night
racing through your mind
the things that haunt your mind
the past
the present
the future
wont let you sleep
the clock goes slow
as the hours of your life tick away into the morning
your mind switches off
as the alarm comes on
a new day
another day of your life come and gone
ready for another just the same tomorrow
