When I Close My Eyes

by Jenni Marie   Jul 20, 2007

Every time that I close my eyes
No longer living in disguise
No longer pretending things are alright
Each time dreading arrival of the light

Every time that I close my eyes
That's the moment when I'm wise
Salty tears leaking down my cheeks
And yet no one ever sees me weep

Every time that I close my eyes
is when I hear my silent cries
Just want it to be over, let it end
Cause I know this pain can't mend

Every time that I close my eyes
Not surrounded by twisted lies
If only I keep them closed forever
Just Heaven and I, as one together

Wow, really deep, and so very sad. I love the way you made the sadness is this poem scream out, beautiful. xx

Towards the ending the rhyming didn't flow as well as the beginning, but otherwise good flow throughout the piece.
Cause I know this pain can't mend... the flow seems to break here, so maybe try Cause I know this pain isn't able to mend.
just a thought. the power behind the piece suggests that you went through this or you know someone very close who did. i hope everything worked out. good piece. 4/5
