Taxi Please

by N J Thornton   Jul 20, 2007

Today,
black cabs can be
red, blue, green
even silver.

Because black (and white)
is never that simple.

There's always a clause
between the lines
trying to rip you off.

Just like those
(never) black cabs.

- Taxi Please.

Great poem, I like the whole metaphor, and the simplistic, yet very elegant atmosphere. I admire the originality of expressed thoughts.
Whole piece is vivid and, although quite short, utterly powerful.

Overall, it's a memorable poem with great message.

This really reminds me of the poetry I always hear in movies in those cafes with the beating drum and the snapping. It's not my type of poetry but it's not a bad poem. It's just not something I'm use to. I'll give it a 4 because the type of poetry it reminds me of I think it stayed true to but since it's not my type I don't like it very much so you get a point for staying true to the poetry type but you get a minus for my personal taste.

Very interesting, and very true, also. I like how you used a taxi as a metaphorical figure for what goes on in our world when it comes to colour.

    Good job.
