The Pearl

by Mr M   Jul 21, 2007

Amid my greatest hopes I start
A search for the gem of all my love's professing
With a purity shaped just like my heart,
Hidden within the deep bed of my soul.

And so I dove to find what's rare
In a search I thought would never end
Until I saw a mollusk there
Wryly smiling at having what I seek.

I didn't know how to pluck my spirit,
But I found it much easier than I had thought
For even the clam who labored to bear it
Had felt the purity of my love, too.

And so that day, we took to crime
In that, we broke the very laws of nature.
He, in creating this heart of mine
And I, who gave that heart to you.

Your poets heart unfurls itself willingly and lends its words to us to float and drift among our own words. Good work, I enjoyed your poem and look forward to more.

Aha, I caught you on the act of misdeed! :)

The idea of defying the 'laws of nature' for love's triumph have somehow appealed to me. I may as well follow your example, Mr. M. Who knows? Haha. {;)

Seriously, I liked it. Poignant to say the least. The pearl, huh. Nice.
