Checkmate

by beautiful xx disaster   Jul 21, 2007

She folds the note,
Hides it in her pocket,
A lump in her throat,
Like a falling rocket.

Tears down her lungs,
Knives in her heart,
Words on her tongue,
All hid in the dark.

Masks on her face,
Smiles on her lip,
Representing the fake,
All part of the script.

Secluded area,
Empty of opinions,
She brings hysteria,
Ignoring the given.

Unfolding the note,
Fingertips trembling,
Reading what you wrote,
Truth assembling.

Simple as that,
She suddenly sees,
Where you stand at,
You were just a tease.

You went and you came,
But her heads still on straight,
She was a pawn in your game,
1 2 3 Checkmate.

A poem about a broken heart, how she loved someone very much, and was heartbroken through a mere piece of paper.

Still, this is a beautiful work of art.
