Three Girls

by Taylor   Jul 22, 2007

Grace was lying next to the riverbank,
on another frigid Wednesday morning.
And as the moon sank beneath the clouds,
the stars sailed off to a better tomorrow,
She tucked her hair behind her ears,
and she cried among the weeds.

Promise stood to the left of the highway,
on yet another day in paradise.
Bitterness, frustration, and rush hour.
No one had time to notice her cardboard.
They were all in such a terrible hurry
to get to places they've already been.

Faith sat on a bench in the park,
drenched, on a Sunday hidden by the rain.
The water cascaded from her eyelashes,
her hair clung desperately to her cheeks.
And the people bustled under their umbrellas,
Because nobody knew she was there.
