Reasons To Live

Fixed and dazed in air
My mind wanders nowhere
I see our 'what could have been'
I begin to wonder where to begin

I don't know what to think
Thought I was focused but I'm scared **
I saw one girl in my life where now it's two
I've never felt so unprepared

My veins don't know which way to flow
The blood goes this way and that
To fulfill the body, or for the heart to breathe
Leaving both behind where they're at

So I'll stop and stare
Try to live my life
Although I see two
Like a splitting knife

**-this line was pulled out from Linkin Park's song "Given Up" and they deserve credit for that line, not me

    Third and fourth stanza are greatest. First is bad and second is good. This piece isn't classic love poem which is great.

    The great thing about poetry is the meaning is different for all readers, although most might not know what it's about they make an assumption. I took from the poem that even though at times in life when you think you know everything and you have all angles covered, sometimes the unexpected happens and your plans have to change.
