Starbucks.

If i lived by every word i heard,
there wouldn't be a moment i actually felt alive.
so while you figure out how to turn the avoidance off,
I'll be armed with denial as soon as it stops.
I'd ingest these words if it were for the best,
but the colours are so beautiful I'll just let them flow.
these glacial eyes aren't meant to feel cold but they say,
they say the warm summer heat isn't something that
keeping a cool head can beat,
but don't discount the old winter winds.
and all the cold shoulders the slightest draft lets in.
and i hear you say 'No that's not alright,
and no you're not doing just fine tonight,
you're not okay and don't tell me any different'
while i walk around clouds and trip over silver linings,
I'll let you find the monster hidden in my cupboard,
and wait to hear names from under the sun,
and every little insult that rolls off your tongue,
will be whistled away with the knowledge you're wrong.
as well mannered and intended as you wish they were,
if i lived by every word that i heard,
there wouldn't be a moment i actually felt alive.
and you could say the most beautiful, perfect phrases,
but i only fight battles where i know i will win,
this is just one of those times you'll drag your heels,
and you'll wish you bit your tongue because your words don't mean a thing.
there's fireworks in your eyes and i know you're angry,
this isn't fair and it's not been what you imagined,
but my stares are held a little too blankly for a little too long,
and i breathe away the evidence of all the done wrong,
while you fabricate different ways and means,
to stop my world from getting drowned.
and i hope the truth's buried so hard it's not found,
there are no hands big enough to fix what was done here.
and here we go with 'it's not fair this way,
don't let him tell you you're worthless,
because you mean something amazing to me.
and one day, I'll help you to find a way to disappear,
he'll be sorry and he always will be.'
and every movement of your lips that forms a word,
it doesn't matter what it is that I've heard,
because i'll always have this naive hope he's still a decent man.
