Abused child

by Tracy D Rollings   Jul 22, 2007

Angry parents, loving child
beating rage, bleeds a while
anger and frustration, pain mutilation
they hid it well, he can't tell
the bones they break, pain he takes
blow to the head, wishes he was dead
cut him no slack, can't have his life back
he's hated here, lives in fear.©2007 Tracydr42

Hi! First off, I wanted to say thanks for all the nice comments you leave me. I've been in a bit of a poetry rut, so it was good to still get some feedback.

I want to say that I like this poem of yours, but like isn't really the best word, is it? It's too dark to really "like." But it's certainly....effective, perhaps. I really like that your beat is so spot-on. Most rhyming poems I see annoy me, because they have uneven cadances, but there's no problem with that here. You kept the phrases short and blunt, which I think really suited the subject matter.

I may be totally wrong but... are you the one who has talked about being abused as a kid? I just wonder, because you seem to have a lot of poems on the subject. Anyway, thanks again, and good poem!

I wish that children had been educated better in those days to tell someone they trusted. I think today it is changing...
