Even Superman Can Die

by Ashley Apparatus   Jul 23, 2007

You once said you would live forever.
That you would be superman on a skateboard.
In biology you once said the frog looked like an old girlfriend.
Then you stabbed the throat.
You never were one to lie.
But now it seems pointless.
Friends come and go in your life.
But a best friend, they are rare to find.
You must know the guilt in losing one.
The pain and the depression.
But to lose one forever
causes a permanent hole which will not fill up.
In a second you would trade your life just to have one more day with them.
One more laugh, or one more goodbye.
Acceptance is the key. You just have to find it.
Twinkies and tech decks will bring a smile to my face.
Dead frogs and ho-ho's will make me laugh.
School dances will be lonely. With me sitting in the corner...
Putting my hand out and waiting for you to grab it.
He was loved, cherished, underestimated.
To say that he was... amazing, would be the understatement in all of humanity.
To lose a friend in a way I lost mine is the worst kind of pain.
But to know him, is the highlight of these teenage years.

-This is for Brian. My secret keeper, my best friend.-

    This one was beautiful, Ashley.
I couldn't bare to imagine what you feel,
but you did show it through this piece.
The intense depth and emotion ..
just kept me reading on and on.
You did wonderfully with this one..
If Brian were here with you today,
I'm sure he'd be as proud as I am.
