Lonesome Dove

by alone in the crowd   Jul 24, 2007

A lonesome dove crooning to the night
Singing a song of hurt
A soulful lament to the shining stars
Hiding away in shadows
The halo of light cast away by darkness
The melody in tune with the cries of broken hearts
A harmony produced by the tormented sobs
Tears beating down upon pale, soft cheeks
Thundering scars into hopeful souls
Hammering sorrow into the angelic face
Untainted lips longing to be kissed
Her mouth too parched to cry out
To sing along with the glorious bird
The only moisture dripping from her eyes
Deep pools of regret lying beneath her brows
Leaking moment after moment
Begging someone to dive in and swim around
Yearning for someone to unplug the salty bath
Allowing her to spill those memories
Her smooth skin stamped with pain
With every touch she is reminded
Reminded of the heartbreak and torture
