Things I dont understand

If I could change one thing in the world...
Thats how so many people start think
They talk of what they want to do
But sit there and let their thoughts sink

I wonder if the Earth would be a better place
If there was more action then there is talk
I wonder what one persons dreams could do
If only they could just outline it in chalk

I just don't understand though
How there are all these game shows on TV
Millions of dollars freely given away
To people who really don't have much of a need

How is it there are starving kids in other countries
And when reality TV has money to give
People selfishly take it for themselves
When other nations are having it a bit harder to live

I just don't understand how these disgusting men
Could rape a woman of who they never met
When their are hookers who will unfortunately give themselves away
And try to give these guys a night they won't forget

Why take the virginity of someone who cares?
When sadly there are woman on the street
Who need a bit of money these days
Even though thats sad thats what they do to keep them on their feet

I just don't understand how people fall in love
Then ruin their child mentally when they get a divorce
Why are people rushing to get into relationships
When later on down the road they won't stay on course

So many children are born into this world
With a mother and father who don't really care
This nation doesn't know how to be a family
Since there is no true happy one out there

I just don't understand how we all sit around
With thoughts of helping all of these things
We sit around hoping and praying
Throughout our life, smiles are what the days bring

But in fact there are people who have it worse
Who goes years without a smile on their face
And for once I wish someone could make the difference
And go the extra mile, rather than just putting a smile on their face

Perhaps spare some extra change or invite them to dinner
Because we all know so many people need to be fed
So many people need homes, and clothes
But we all just sit around with thoughts in our head

I just don't understand how so many of us want to help
And all it takes is one person, it can start with you
But we all sit around and focus on our own life
Acting as if there is nothing we can do

So I hang on to prayer since thats what it takes
Because no one seems to jump into action
And I believe in the Lord and his almighty ways
That some day he'll make some miracles happen
