Tainted youth

by morgan   Jul 25, 2007

Her unlit fire
burns inside
her open wounds
she trys to hide

someone glued
her eyelids together
closed they will stay
that way forever

silently she yells
in her frustration
but loudly she laughs
at their misinterpretation

so confused she falls
unable to tell black from white
on the floor she lays
unable to fight

she's cried all of her
make-up off
finally left alone
in a mental standoff

the eyeliner covered
the scars on her face
now it's all fun down
hair exactly out of place

sweetly swollen eyes
tender bitten lips
casually bruised heart
burn fingertips

she hasn't left yet
She's still here
she doesn't want to
give up and disappear

pretending to her face
they tell the truth
saying that she's become
a tainted youth.
