I see her smile across the room to something you said And think what a lovely couple you both make She leans a little close, touches your sleeves And whispers words which make you laugh like never before Havent seen you laugh like that in years Curt words, cold stares and endless silences were you Your eyes glow with warmth as they linger on her face She too seems to reciprocate that warmth in her eyes Rooms filled with our friends and family But lost are you two in a world of your own A glass of chilled champagne Dangles ignored between my careless fingers Decision made I slowly make my way to you Unnoticed slip my wedding ring in your pocket Collect my coat from the hotel lobby Request for a cab for that last one trip home Memories of all the years we spent together Comes crashing down on me, rendering me almost helpless You shut me out years ago or now that I think Did you ever even let me into your heart? With bags all packed and ready at the door I find myself reluctant to leave this cold, cold house that was home With intentions just to lay my head for just a while I curl up with your pillow on our bed Feel warm and secure after such a long time Dont want to open my eyes to the wintry future that awaits me Opening them I find myself in your arms My ring back on my finger, confusing me with my realities Your eyes open and you whisper Happy 10th Anniversary, Love!
