Paper Heart

by TrueLover   Jul 26, 2007

Like a piece of paper,
I'm empty and I'm blank
I can be boring, and can be lifeless
Lying here, limp and dank.
But like that piece of paper,
I have so much potential;
the ability to be something great.
To sing to you, my quintessential heart,
or admit to my deepest hate;
to tell you how much i love,
or to open up hell's gates;
I can laugh with overwhelming joy,
or cry you a never ending stream
Like the simple, blank, white paper,
I can tell you all my fears
I can boast to you my bravery
or whisper what can cause my tears.
As crazy as it seems,
it all comes from my soul
To you, I can be nothingness
or I can give it all.
I can be left smooth and flat,
happy, and all together
Or you can rip me up blow me from your hand
like pieces of a feather.
I can be as wise as the old;
as naive as the young,
and as unpredictable as the weather.
Like a piece of paper,
I'm empty and I'm blank
but for being so limp and lifeless,
I can really make you think.
