Two Images on Roads

by Tara Auburn   Jul 27, 2007

I don't know where to go.
I stand here debating either road.

One seems so straight and narrow,
Always there and ready for me when I loose my way;
The straight and narrow always perfect,
Somehow seems boring to me today.

This other road I stare down is dark and curvy,
It seems so appealing and dangerous, but yet so thrilling.
This dark road doesn't look like it's inviting me to travel upon it,
But yet I still stand here considering.

Down the straight, narrow and boring path and image appears.
I stare and try to focus, but all I see is a blurry figure staring back at me.

I quickly look to the other road, and there I see everything so clear,
your image, so slender and tall, but yet so distant and far.

I don't understand why one of you is so clear,
and yet the other is so far and unfocused.

The straight and narrow I realize would take a quick, abrupt turn, once he became a clear vision.

While the dark and dangerous road would have a clearing,
a clearing though that is way down the way.

I still stand here debating both roads,
and still don't know which way to go.

The man on the straight and narrow is at arms reach.
I fear though, that later on the road I will be standing alone, waving farewell.

The more appealing road, dark and mysterious, has the man I want most.
He stands there so clear.
With one problem standing in the way of us,
I reach for him and he isn't there,
to get to him, this will take some time and effort for me.

Both roads seem so pleasing to my heart,
but only one road will offer me contentment.
So which road will I choose?
I still don't know.
